“It is disappointing that at a time when low-income families are struggling most with rising food and fuel costs that the Mayor has decided to retract the 50% affordable housing benchmark within London.
“Living in bad housing can ruin your health, education and future chances in life. And yet there are tens of thousands of families who are living in overcrowded and unsuitable temporary housing in London. It is shameful that in the sixth richest city in the world we allow this to continue. The 50% benchmark is the bare minimum that this city needs to be providing to struggling families and it is a huge disappointment that this has now been abolished.”
