Michael Gove, Shadow Secretary of State for the Department of Children, Schools and Families, addressed a crowd of delegates, shadow ministers, End Child Poverty members and visitors alike at the End Child Poverty reception last night. At the Conservative Party Conference event Michael restated the need to narrow the gap between disadvantaged families and the rest of society.
Michael Gove was joined by Bob Reitemeier, Chief Executive for The Children's Society, who urged attendees to join the Keep the Promise rally on October 4th.
The evening, hosted in the Symphony Hall lobby of the International Convention Centre, proved popular especially the string quartet (provided by Music for Youth) who were invited to play in 11 Downing Street as a result of their performance last night.
The reception, hosted by Barnardo’s, NSPCC, Save the Children, The Children’s Society and Action for Children, created an exciting buzz about the event on October 4th and provided keen campaigners with whistles, T-shirts and postcards in preparation for the rally.
