Welcoming the new Children’s Plan, announced today by the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls MP, Hilary Fisher, Director of the Campaign to End Child Poverty, said: “The Children’s Plan takes some real and meaningful steps towards improving the lives of some of our most vulnerable children and their families. This new and comprehensive plan recognises that poverty blights children’s lives. It works to provide extensive help for parents and addresses key issues such as housing and education where improvements are clearly needed. With 3.8 million children currently living in poverty in the UK, and indications that numbers are again beginning to rise, the need to address child poverty has never been more compelling.”
