WE’RE LOOKING FOR ECP YOUTH AMBASSADORS!

Share this:

Since September 2020, ECP has been working with a group of children and young people who have shared their experiences of poverty and captured its impact on our Young people talk poverty page (more to follow in the coming months). To celebrate what other young people are doing around the UK to challenge child poverty, the group suggested we develop a scheme for End Child Poverty Youth Ambassadors across the country.

Applications for prospective Youth Ambassadors are open until September 6th 2021 – please share the details with organisations, schools and individuals who might be interested. More information below!

End Child Poverty Youth Ambassadors

Celebrating young people’s action to tackle child poverty

Are you aged between 16 and 25? Passionate about seeing an end to child poverty in the UK? Taking action locally on child poverty?

If so, you sound like you could be a youth ambassador for the End Child Poverty coalition.

End Child Poverty – a national campaign that wants to see an end to child poverty in the UK – is looking to celebrate what young people are doing in their local communities. It could be volunteering at a foodbank, helping out at an afterschool club, campaigning to your local council to keep a service running, or challenging your school about the cost of school uniform, trips or extra equipment.

We would like to highlight the brilliant actions by so many young people around the country to challenge child poverty.

We’re looking for 10 -12 young people, with a range of experiences and backgrounds, from across the UK. We would particularly welcome young people who have experience of growing up in poverty but that’s not essential – the only requirement would be that you have a passion for seeing an end to child poverty in the UK.

What being a Youth Ambassador would involve

  • an initial 12 month commitment (with the option to stay longer if you’d like)
  • your agreement for you and your local activity being profiled on End Child Poverty’s website
  • your agreement to receive regular emails from us listing opportunities to take part in activities (with no pressure to take part!)
  • regular ‘check ins’ with us about your experience of the scheme and ideas you may have

In return we would like to offer you the opportunity to

  • Promote the work you (and any organisation you are working with) are doing
  • network and share ideas with other young people
  • develop campaign ideas you may have about changing something locally
  • training in speaking to the media about child poverty
  • meet with decision-makers locally and nationally
  • meet with some of the organisations that are members of the End Child Poverty coalition

Interested?

Drop us an email at office@cpag.org.uk to find out more. And we can take it from there! Once you’ve decided you’d like to apply all we’ll ask you to do is write down (in no more than 300 words) why you’d like to take part and what you’ve been involved in locally (it could be something you’re doing now, or have done in the past).

Closing date for applications: 6th Sept 2021

TBC Induction: week of 4th Oct, with launch in the week of 11th Oct.
